Baton Rouge Begins Governance Assessment
Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) has officially launched Phase I of a governance assessment with the support of Steven Baldwin Associates (SBA). The study is designed to evaluate the airport’s current City-Parish model and explore alternative governance structures that could better serve both the airport and the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Region.
Governance transitions are not new to SBA. The firm has successfully guided similar processes for airports across the country, including Asheville (AVL), Cherry Capital (TVC), Gerald R. Ford (GRR), Manchester-Boston (MHT), St. Cloud (STC), Syracuse (SYR), and Victoria Regional (VCT). By comparing governance models and working closely with stakeholders, SBA helps airports identify the most effective structures for long-term sustainability and growth.
The Phase I assessment at BTR will focus on identifying the benefits of alternative models and analyzing how they compare to the current structure. Phase II will then guide the Baton Rouge Metro Council through the implementation of recommendations that stem from this study.
